How to Choose, Install, and Store Gym Floor Covers
1. Choose a cover weight
Heavier covers are stronger and carry longer warranties. GymGuard comes in 18 oz (8 year prorated warranty), 22 oz (10 year), 27 oz (15 year), and 32 oz (17 year). If you cover the floor a few times a year, a lighter weight may be enough. For frequent events, heavy rolling loads, or staging, step up to 27 or 32 oz.
2. Measure your floor
Measure the length and width of the area you need to cover. Covers are available as pre-cut roll covers 10 ft x 100 ft (1,000 sq ft) or you can choose to have custom length covers made..
3. Prepare and install
Dust mop the floor first so no grit gets trapped under the cover. Roll the sections out side by side, then tape the seams with GymGuard tape (sold separately).
4. Remove, clean, and store
After the event, sweep the cover, pull the tape, and roll each section back up. A storage rack and PowerWinder (sold separately) make rolling and storing faster. GymGuard covers are for indoor use only; outdoor use is not covered by the warranty.

Each GymGuard roll is 10 ft x 100 ft, or 1,000 square feet. To estimate, divide the width of the area you need to cover by 10 for the number of rolls, and add more if the floor is longer than 100 ft. Call us with your floor dimensions and we will confirm the count.
Yes. GymGuard is a woven polyester fabric coated with PVC on both sides, so it is waterproof and rot resistant, with a fungicide and odor inhibitor. It meets NFPA 701 large-scale flame resistance and California Fire Marshal standards, among others, which matters for indoor events with large crowds.
