Floor Finish Applicators
Floor finish applicators put an even coat of finish on wood gym floors and basketball courts. Pick the applicator for the size of the job, then match the pad or refill to the finish you are using.
Floor Finish Applicator Systems are gravity-fed tank applicators like the EZ Finish Pro EZ-450 and Pro Flo, built for one person and up to 40 to 50% solids finishes. How to Choose a Floor Finish Applicator
- Match the job size: a gravity-fed tank applicator such as the EZ-450 or Pro Flo lets one person coat a full court. T-bar coaters come in widths from 12 to 30 inches.
- Match the coat thickness: a lightweight T-bar lays down a thicker coat (usually for water based finishes), and a heavyweight T-bar lays down a thinner, more controlled coat.(usually used for oil based finishes.
- Match the pad to the finish: use synthetic lambswool for water-based finish and genuine lambswool for oil-based coats. Woven refills suit stronger solvent-based coatings, and Nylfoam refills suit waterborne and mild solvent-based finishes.
- Cut in the edges first: use a 10 inch trim pad along walls and corners before you run the main applicator.
- Follow the finish label: always check the finish manufacturer’s instructions for the right applicator and pad.

It depends on the job. Floor finish applicators with a tank, like the EZ Finish Pro EZ-450 and Pro Flo, let one person coat a full basketball court with 40 to 50% solids finishes. These are great for professionals that are routinely finishing courts and saves time and labor to make jobs more profitable. T-bar coaters work well but require more time and labor for contractors who prefer them.
Use synthetic lambswool for water-based gym floor finish. It spreads the finish evenly without absorbing as much as natural wool. Use genuine lambswool for oil-based coats. Our synthetic lambswool applicator pads and lambswool pads are both 24 by 7 inches. Always follow the finish manufacturer’s pad recommendation.

Our 24 by 7 inch lambswool finish applicator pads fit E-Z Way, Pro Flo, and EZ Finish Pro applicators. Synthetic lambswool pads in the same size fit the same applicators for water-based finish. Keep spare pads on hand, because a worn or dirty pad leaves streaks in the finish on a gym floor.
The EZ Finish Pro EZ-450 is a modern alternative to the discontinued E-Z Way K-450. It is a gravity-fed applicator with a 2.5 gallon tank, 1/2 inch 304 stainless steel valves, PTFE seals, and a 24 inch lambswool pad. It is built for one-person application of 40 to 50% solids gym floor finish.
